When Jupiter and Saturn Become One

According to Space.com, Jupiter and Saturn will be conjunct on December 21, 2020. A phenomenal occurrence that only takes place every 20 years! However, what we will witness on December 21 will be even bigger than a normal conjunction. Because Jupiter and Saturn rarely get together, the celestial longitudes coming into alignment will create the allusion of a single celestial body. Because the luminaries are so large, there is no need for a telescope to see their transit through the sky.  The two planets have not come this close to one another since July 16, 1623! The next time the planets will be this close will be on March 15, 2080.

Perhaps some centenarians will be around to view it with their grandchildren, for a second time.
